“The system is easy to use, and the targets are durable”

Extreme flexibility – one of the major features
- The same components are used in a one-lane system and a 20-lane system; and there are no limitations to the number of targets in a system
- Communication between the components are standard protocols, giving a large variety of communication methods, such as wireless, network cables, fibre optic cables, the use of modems, or a combination of these.
- The system automatically calibrates to any calibre and distance and handles both supersonic and subsonic ammunition.
- The system runs on battery and / or mains power. Batteries with different capacity is available and chosen based on size of system and required run-time.
User Interfaces
Shooter
Each target can have its dedicated monitor. This allows the shooter to control the target by setting up training events, changing target silhouettes and light, monitor system status and of course see the score, and grouping information.
The shooters have a personal shooting journal available, where scores are automatically uploaded, thereafter comments and information can be attached. When shooting on a non-Kongsberg Target Systems, data can be manually entered.

Instructor
An instructor can observe several shooters at the time on a dedicated display and monitor their scoring and results. In addition, an instructor can setup exercises to train for specific scenarios.
Competition manager
The system contains a comprehensive competition system including functionality such as:
- A wide range of predefined competitions
- Possibility to modify existing or create new competition programs
- Import of shooter information (i.e. name, class) and export of scores / result
- Running competitions with prerecorded audible messages such as “FIRE”, “STOP”, etc.
- Pause, stop, reshoot, etc. for all or any competitor

Range operator
All parts of the system are monitored in real-time providing information on damaged parts and when repairs are needed. Shot counters on each target will let the range operator know when maintenance is needed or providing data for environmental reporting.

Audience
Scores and results can be shown to audience on large screens at the range and / or via the internet in real-time.

Hardware
Targets
The system can be delivered with several different size targets, suitable for different calibres and ranges.

Infrastructure
A of the major features of Kongsberg Target SystemsTM is based on “standard” network communication (TCP/IP) and using a large part of commercially available products (COTS). This means that a large variety of available system topologies and products, providing the best functionality at the most affordable prices.
eHub
The Hub device is the server and network router for the Kongsberg Target SystemsTM system. It makes a separate network for the system and have a gateway to other shooting range networks and/or the internet.
The eHub provides the instructor, competition, maintenance and audience functionality described earlier, and is accessible through a web interface.
Maintenance
A target can be used for up to 15 000 rounds without changing any consumables, depending on factors such as distance, calibre and shooters performance. When change of consumables are required, this can be done quickly and efficiently without the use of tools or any alignment afterwards.
Software upgrades are downloaded automatically over the internet. If any issues arise the supplier can log in remotely and help during the fault finding and repair process.
Installation
Installation is simple and tidy and can be done by the customers themselves or by services provided by the supplier. The example shown uses wireless communication, but wired solutions can be used.
Each target line (if multiple) contains an antenna, a cabinet with power and switch for connecting the targets, and the targets. The targets are interconnected with one cable that provides both signals and power.
On the firing line there is one antenna that sends and receives information form the targets and communicate with the wireless shooter monitors and any other displays or computers connected. The cabinet contains the server (eHub), power and an optional connection to the internet.
The system can be delivered as a mobile solution; with battery both at the Target Line and the Firing Line. With stands for the targets and protection for vital electronics.
