In 2014 Thomas Country, Georgia started looking into the process of building a shooting range that would give the community a place to shoot, as well as new shooters a place to learn proper technique and responsible gun safety. In 2018, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, a grant was established to start the construction of a state-of-the-art shooting range. Ranges at Oakfield offers a 100-yard rifle range and a 25-yard pistol range, two trap skeet fields, and a five-stand shotgun course.
Our rifle range initially had plans for paper targets. After some research, we found Kongsberg. From the start of our research, they have been an outstanding partner for our rifle platform. They helped with the design of our range and how to implement the digital targets. Being from a small community in the Unites States, we had some concerns dealing with a company from overseas. The team at Kongsberg helped in every way possible to give us the reassurance that we needed and continued their support throughout the entire installation, even after our system was in operation.
Our customers are extremely happy with the targets from the safety aspect of not having to go down range, but also the convenience of firing multiple times without checking paper. The accuracy of the targets is well above our expectations and our customers dreams. We dell this has given us an advantage over other ranges in our area.
