The installations were complex, but the experts at KTS provided solutions that included 162 targets distributed equally over its 200, 300 and 600 yard ranges on 54 firing points at the CMP’s highpower rifle range.

In 2015, the Civilian Marksmanship Program selected Kongsberg Target Systems to install electronically-scored targets for its highpower rifle and pistol ranges at the CMP Marksmanship Park near Talladega, Alabama (U.S.A). The installations were complex, but the experts at KTS provided solutions that included 162 targets distributed equally over its 200, 300 and 600 yard ranges on 54 firing points at the CMP’s highpower rifle range. It marked the first simultaneous firing of three electronic target lines from a common firing line anywhere in the world. Remotely-operated lifters were applied to each target, enabling the CMP to independently raise and lower targets without interruption. Similar facilities were installed on neighboring electronic target ranges for smallbore rifle and pistol.

In 2018, the CMP installed 160 electronically-scored airgun targets with KTS OpticScore targets at its indoor ranges at Camp Perry, Ohio and Anniston, Alabama. Additionally, CMP also utilizes 100 KTS OpticScore traveling airgun targets for use at championship events at remote locations across the U.S.A.

These projects required a significant amount of expertise and cooperation between the CMP and our Norwegian partners in expanding KTS’ knowledge of American sport shooting and CMP’s understanding of 21st Century marksmanship technology.
